January Mosaic

It's time to show you my newest One A Day, it feels strangely good being on a different project already. I do love my rainbow blanket, but she is in hibernation just now and I DO promise she will get finished in 2012.
Now, for my new project...I already showed you the wool, the white and bright mustard wool that I bought in the wrong size. I told you that I was making a blanket for my sisters bed, well here is what I have done so far.
I have to say, I really love the colour of the mustard wool and it will be fun to see this grow, even if it grows slowly...since its double bed sized. I hope my sister will love it as much as I enjoy making it :D

January Mosaic
I have been quite busy this month haven't I, considering the little phase where I hardly did any crochet! This is me jumping on the Monthly Mosaic bandwagon because I think its a cool idea, Suzanne inspired me to do it :D
I figured today was the best day to do the mosaic, since tomorrow will be February...the month of St. Valentines, I may just make some hearts and things. We shall see!

Mish Mash Sunday

Recently I have been getting in a rut with cooking dinners and things, as I always feel like I am cooking the same thing every week or two. I love cooking and I love learning and trying new things to cook! So when I spotted these small books in Morrisons during my grocery shop, I just had to pick them up as they were reduced to only £4 each.
A bargain as I spent £20 on them instead of £40, I wasn't going to complain and I thought I would treat myself after just getting paid on Friday...a reasonable decision I felt.
I have not had the chance to browse through all of them, but I know from peeking in them that I like the style and simplicity of the cookbooks and nothing extravagant that would be out of my tastes. I have managed to tab all the dishes from one book so far.
This is my way of knowing where to go so that I don't have to spend ten minutes looking through things I am not interested in. I now no longer have an excuse to buy ingredients for the same things any more, it will be exciting to try new things...well that's if they turn out properly.

I had an amusing moment on Saturday morning, as I received the package of wool that I ordered on Thursday evening. Rather confused, looking at the package as it was quite small for ten balls of 100g wool. After opening the package up, I started giggling to myself as I seemed to have ten balls of 25g wool as you can see in the photograph they are definitely not 100g balls....that's what I get for not reading the description properly when ordering.
Thankfully the same colours are available from Sirdar in 100g, which I will order when I run out all these little ones. I am using these to make a double bed sized granny stripe blanket for one of my sisters for her birthday in August, I am giving myself plenty of time as I don't know how long it will take me to do a blanket this size. Also just in case I get a little bit fed up of doing it lots, it means I can take my time with it.
My last update for today is that Millie's Rainbow is nearly finished, I have completed all of the stripes and I am now doing the border...I am not sure if I will have finished it for Friday, you will just have to wait and see :D
Happy Sunday everyone!

Square A Week - Week 4

I really liked the bobbly pattern, its really fun to do...can you tell? I am going to make a proper baby blanket using this pattern, which will be fun to do! I think my main crochet love is always going to be blankets.
I must say I am really glad I am enjoying my crochet again, even around my erratic work schedule. It's crazy that I have been working there for 4 months now, but I can see I have gotten used to the flexible changes from week to week as I am able to have fun around it now.
Sometimes I wish I had more of my life to blog about, but then there would be only so much I could talk about work he he....since that is pretty much my life. Work and this the same for anyone else?

Ah well, back to crocheting Millie's Rainbow for now.

Millie's Blanket - One A Day & WIP

Millie's Rainbow is speedily moving on, as I usually find myself doing at least 2 rows a day...if not more. I love doing this project so much I can't resist putting it down sometimes.
Though I really dread the moment of having to tidy these ends up, it's what I get for being lazy and not tidying them as I go along!

If you are interested in seeing who is participating in One a Day visit Gingerbread Girl's blog, since this is also my main WIP at the can check out other WIP at Tami's Amis blog too!

Square A Week - Week 3

Making one square a week is quite handy for getting to learn new patterns, without needing to do anything full scale. I really had the urge to try the bobbly stitch he he. This technically counts as a finished object right?

Thats me done 3 out of 52 squares for my charitable goal of 2012, I can't wait to send them to Knit-A-Square charity!!

Millie's Rainbow - WIP

I have fallen in love with granny stripes, especially baby sized ones. They are so quick to do, and they never increase in size and it is always fun because I can change colours lots!!!
This is what I have done so far on the baby blanket I have started recently for my cousin's baby, who will be called I am calling the blanket, Millie's Rainbow.
This has taken up most of my time, I am considering in calling it my One A Day....what do you reckon? It is also my most important WIP.

You can check out people that are taking part in One A Day at Gingerbread Girls blog, and you can check other WIP at Tami's Amis blog.

Baby WIP

I am super happy today, because I just got a pack of wool!! 17 balls of Stylecraft Special DK, that was custom packed to match Attic 24 colour selection.
So this is now my super duper stash that I received, and the beginnings of a granny stripe baby blanket. This is for my cousin's little baby girl, Millie, who is due in April. I am mega excited!

One A Day - Rainbow Blanket

Hello there rainbow blanket, everyone hasn't see you in a while. I am still working strong on this one, the main issue I am having is running out of colours while I am in the process of doing the rounds.
I thought I would give you a couch shot, to give you a feel for the size of rainbow blankie...she is getting fairly big but she still isn't big enough!!!
Another 2012 goal for me, Miss Rainbow Blanket WILL get finished!!

To see who else is participating you can check out Gingerbread Girl's blog, I will try and check out everyones' awesome progress as well :D

The 2011 Stash

Everyone seems to be counting and looking at their current stash, which urged me to look at mine and also all of the projects I had in hibernation.
This is the stash I have from 2011, I counted roughly 40-ish as there are some balls that are already hooked. I can definitely say there will be plenty wool getting turned into squares to keep those little babies and children all warm.
Though I am unsure what to do with these balls of wool, as I was given them and I find the stuff too difficult to work with as it is very stringy and too fluffy to see what I am doing with it. Do any of you like using this stuff, if so I would be happy to give it to you.
Some hibernating projects were thrown out and some revamped into something else, one example is the wavy scarf I started to make, which never got any further...... turned into a groovy little phone cover. This made me feel a bit better! I think today I could firmly say that I made sure it was out with the old and make space for the new ;-)

Beautiful Blog Award

I have seen this award on certain profiles, and I felt that I wanted to take the award and dedicate it to Crafts From The Cwtch, as I really admire her blog posts and think she has an awesome blog layout too. If someone receives this award, they then have to award it to a blogger they think are beautiful :) I cheated as I want to start the blog loving, as I don't actually have the award, but I can still start it right?

Square A Week - Week 1

I have completed my first Knit A Square....although really it should be Crochet A  Square he he. I think my 2012 goal will be achievable as I have seven days to make one square!
I love that I have loads of different colours of wool, so I am thinking I may make them in this style but change the colour combinations. You never know, I might even make a little rainbow square he he. I am going to upload all of my squares to flickr, which means you will see all of my squares grouped together.

If you ever want to see how I am getting on, I am going to post every Sunday as you can technically say this is my Year of Projects :) Let me know if you ever decide to join in on the charitable fun too!

Charity Resolution - Square A Week

Before I made this blog and got into crochet, I dabbled in some knitting at the beginning of 2011.....which led me to make some squares for Knit A Square Charity. It was this charity that got me into learning how to crochet, so I owe a lot of thanks to them. Although I shamefully only sent two packages last year, even though I said I was going to make them many many squares!!

This leads me to making a charitable resolution, that I will make at least one square a week dedicated to this charity!! I am currently making my first week square at the moment, and I shall figure out some button that allows me to tally my weekly progress.

I found this charity last year when I was going through a phase of wanting to do something productive in my life, that didn't require oodles of money (since I didn't have much myself). After a search on the internet on what charity benefited from my knitting hobby, and the Knit A Square website popped up, and all I had to do was knit or crochet 8 x 8 inch squares in any colour or pattern.

That is my decision made, and if I stick with it each week....I will be able to donate 52 squares over the course of the year, which will get made into many different blankets for poorly babies and children.

The Wonders of 2011

I created this blog after finding my love of crochet, and I wanted to dedicate a space where I could write about my adventures. I learned to crochet hats, my first granny squares and cute things like hearts, and jar covers.

My time started to strain, as I started a new job and less time devoted to crocheting and starting projects, but never seeming to finish some. I started a cushion cover, and continued with two blankets as I had less time for new projects.

The blue Nana blanket went into hibernation during November, although I continued on with my Rainbow blanket very slowly. One night I also had the notion to learn the ripple effect, and I made the little squares for the rainbow blanket.

I don't think I did any crochet except for a few moments with my rainbow blanket.

All I can say is that having a love for crochet and blogging has led me to seeing lots of lovely blogs, and of course very lovely people. I can't wait for the fun of 2012!
