Sunny Stripe WIP

Just taking a quick photo to show you my progress, I think I have done 6 or 7 rows since I last showed you Sunny Stripe. I am currently working on it right now, although I will need to look out a pattern for my week 8 square as it is Wednesday and I haven't started it yet :)
If you want to check out other bloggers' work in progress, go over to Tami's Amis blog and you will see lots of crafty things going on!

My Place and Yours; Patterns

I am continuing the meme 'My Place and Yours' that Vic from Punky & Me had been running. Vic recently posted saying that she was putting her blog to rest, and since I really enjoy this meme...I wanted to run it in memory of her blog.

Let's show a little bit of patterns..
It can be spotty, stripey, zig-zag...
....any pattern you can find around you in your home.

I never realised how many flowery patterns I have in my house he he.

Some guidelines for this meme..

All you have to do is link back here if you are joining in!
Take as many or as little photographs you want in relation to the theme, you can do it any way you want to, in any style you want to. You can write a lot with it or a little, its all up to you.
Lastly...visit the other people who may join in and let them know what you think of their posts.

Square A Week 6 & 7

As promised, here is week 6 square. I am quite pleased with it, and it is much more square shaped after blocking it. Learning new block patterns is pretty awesome, but the downside is that it takes more time and patience around my work schedule and social life (when I have one).
For week 7 square, I have been a very bad girl as you can see its not complete. I was intrigued to do a square with diagonal rows but it needs lots of time to make sure I have counted the rows correctly so that it doesn't turn into a funny shape. I am using my new 'Crochet 200 Blocks' book, and I definitely absolutely love it!
Now to leave my unfinished square behind to go out as Andy and I are meeting one of my close friends for lunch, as I don't get to see him very often...I have the excuse to leave my unfinished square behind, but I promise charity I will definitely have this complete at some point!
The squares I have made up until the end of February are going to get posted away, I may take a photograph of all those squares together before I parcel them up!

Hope you have all had a nice weekend, I have :)

Delightful Cup of Coffee

It's been a long day at work, and nothing feels better than getting in the house to sit down to a nice warm cuppa! Although my cuppa will be even more enjoyable today as I received my 200 crochet blocks book through the post, and a lovely letter from my pen-friend Vanessa.
Vanessa and I have been in contact since we were introduced to each other through a pen pal scheme at high school, that was set up to allow you to write to someone else from another country. I remember having three different pen pals, one from Italy, one from France and Vanessa from Spain.
It's been nearly ten years since we first started writing, and Vanessa is the only one I seemed to click and keep in contact with with out of all my pen pals . There have been little phases where we don't contact each other as we got older, but now that the internet has become more popular we have each other on facebook and twitter.
It is delightful, as she decided to write a letter to me last week since we don't have time to catch up on the internet and it was just like old times :) Thank you Vanessa!
Onto the next greatest thing, 200 blocks!! I have a very valid reason for ordering this book (other than my love of crochet), it saves me searching the internet every week to find a new square pattern to learn for my Square A Week goal...Handy isn't it?
I took two photos to give you an idea of the blocks that are in this book, I am in heaven!!!!It makes Square A Week more exciting, now my problem will be to pick a square each many choices!

P.S. If your reading this at all Vanessa, just want to say I love ya x

Sunny Stripe

My one a day is getting worked on quite a lot, it doesn't seem to grow in height very quickly but it is very wide...wider than my couch!!I have got this far in and I am still not fed up with it, however I am happy I started it early this year as I hope to have it finished for August.
Randomly last night I decided to make Andy a cup coaster, and I think he is delighted with it. It is currently sitting underneath his cup from this morning, yay!
I have finished my week 6 square but I am going to keep it to show off with my week 7 square on Sunday! Now to visit other peoples' blogs to see more One A Day goodness! Happy valentines day everyone.

Eventful Dancing Weekend

There has been a lack of crochet this weekend, as I have been very busy socialising with people outside of my laptop. On Friday evening I went for dinner with Andy to Di Maggios, and on Saturday evening I went to Club Noir, a burlesque show which was themed 'Saturday Night at the Movies'.
We didn't go with the theme, but I had my favourite red polka dot dress on and I tried to do my hair to a vintage looking style with the flower accessory...not sure if I pulled off a vintage look, but I was happy! I guess this is another little thing that I enjoy going to, even if the drinks are overpriced!
There was a live band which were more 70's funk cop chase music, followed by a live dj who played a lot of my favourite 50's and 60's tunes that I like to dance to. The burlesque shows afterwards were very entertaining and I managed to capture a lot of good photographs of them.
There are many more photographs, but these one are my favourites. I am hoping to go to the Halloween Club Noir, although I am having trouble thinking what I can dress up as (I have plenty time to think of ideas thankfully).
Just thought I would mention that I went to the show prepared, as much I love those shoes, my feet really really don't like high heels of any kind! This photo amuses me!
On the crochet note, I am in the midst of doing my week 6 square, I am learning a pattern that is a little bit more challenging that I had anticipated. I hope to get a photograph posted tomorrow night!!

My Place and Yours - On The Wall

I am joining in the with My Place and Yours meme this week over at Punky & Me's blog. This weeks theme is on the wall, to show you a little of what is on our walls. Some of it is our landlord's things, as I would prefer something with a bit more colour.
Trying to make the bathroom mirror look more colourful with the shower curtain!
These two little things are mine, I picked up the little heart picture at a craft stand. My fiancĂ©'s brother made us the little handmade calender.
This angel picture was given to us as a christmas present, I like cute things like this.

I can't wait to have my own proper house to give it some more personal touch, does that sound silly? Although I do like the landlord's things, but its quite neutral for my tastes. It is understandable that they are neutral, as private lets are preferred to be neutral to make it easier for getting people to rent the place I suppose :)

So if you want to see what other's have got, check out Punky & Me's blog!

Race For Life

I made the decision to enter into the Race For Life 2012, in Glasgow city. I have done this event twice before and its been a fun meaningful occasion. Although this time I am doing it with more purpose as I have lost my nana recently to cancer and I have a little brother who is currently fighting leukemia. I am not doing it alone as my wonderful fiancé is going with me as I entered him into the event too, and I even joked about getting him dressed in pink and possibly even as a girl he he.
This is my fundraising page, which allows me to let people know what I am doing and why I am doing it. I promise you photographs of Andy in his pink outfit too!
On a crochet note, I tried out a granny circle square, it is the same size as a cup coaster and that is exactly what I am using it for!

Square A Week - Week 5

Tooty Frooty
I was very bad a left this until the last minute, but I learned that you are allowed to send the odd fun square in! This allowed me to learn a new pattern and also make something very quickly so that I didn't end up having to make two squares next week!
Knit-A-Square forum has added a theme challenge that you could either try 'Tooty Frooty, french lace or fantasy (such as fairies, dragons, cartoon etc). Here is my first tooty frooty square for February! Excuse the bad photography, but I had to use a flash since its so late at night.

  • My favourite reading place is in the bathtub, this is why I haven't bought a kindle yet. I could deal with dropping a paper book in the bath but certainly not a kindle.
  • I have always wanted a tattoo, and know what tattoo I want to get...but I am too chicken to get one done, as I don't like the permanency of it. They are still cool though.
