Hexagons and festivals

Hello! I hope you are keeping well! Today brings you a new WIP from me, since I have left Andy's scarf at work (so frustrating, I thought I had lost it). Last night I decided I wanted to do another project with hexagons, and using some new yarn that I bought at the weekend.
I bought some Drops Karisma from a lovely Yarn CafĂ© that I found in Glasgow, I chose these colours as I wanted something different from my usual rainbow-tastic colour choices.
I am using the same hexagon pattern with the exception of changing the colour each round, and for my colour choices I am just going to do them randomly as I go a long. Not sure what I am going to make with these...maybe a cushion or something.
If you would like to see more WIPs, check out Tami's Amis blog!

Aside from my crochet antics, there is other news for me to share. Yesterday I received an email from a lady at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, she has accepted my application to volunteer at the festival this year. There is a meeting in the beginning of February in Edinburgh, that will allow all the volunteers to meet each other and also for us to figure out what tasks we will be responsible for on the day of the festival. I am super excited, as I know I really wanted to go to the yarn festival, but I think it is even better that I will get to volunteer for them. It means that I might pick up so many new ideas, and possibly spend a lot of money if I get the time to browse the stalls.
If you live in Scotland, and you would be interested in going along to the yarn festival it is on Saturday 16th March, at a venue called Out Of The Blue. There is more information at their site about classes and stallholders.

That is all from me today folks,

Take care and enjoy the rest of your day!

  1. Oooh, I love your hexagons, I bet that yarn feels lush.
What fun to be involved in the running of a yarn festival, I hope it all works out for you.

  2. ooh those hexagons are really pretty!! Have fun with the yarn festival, I'm going to go take a look at the website now!! have a creative wednesday xx

  3. Loving those colours. I also love just working with colours, just letting them jump on the hook if you know what I mean
    Kindest Regards Linda

  4. The festival sounds like fun, although possibly too much temptation :) I like this combination of colours. And I like the idea of the randomness of the colour choices but I doubt I'd be able to stick to it. Too much TYPE A in my brain, I guess :)

  5. Oh how fun to get to be involved in the Festival! Looking forward to seeing your new hexie project, that's a great colour combo.
    Happy Wednesday

  6. I love your colour choices. But now you've given me a conundrum, Squares or hexagons for the next blanket :( hmmmmmm.

  7. Congrats on being selected as a volunteer. That would be VERY exciting! OH - your hex's are going to look fab. I love blankets and throws n pillows and stuff that have no real color pattern - just random color..that in itself is a pattern :)

  8. GASP! I would cry if I thought I'd lost a knitting project. I'm so relieved to hear you found it!

  9. Lovely combination of colors!

    Good luck at the Festival!

  10. The festival sounds like fantastic fun! How cool to manhandle delicious yarn and to be able to rub elbows with other crafters. Your trademark choices in bold colors are wonderful.

  11. Your hexagons are looking great! Lovely colours! I wish, there would be yarn festivals here too! It must be wonderful to work there, I´m sure you will have a lot of fun!
    Have a wonderful weekend Hazel!
