Little Squares Inspired Cushion

Hello! Hope you are all well, although I am not really keeping good. Had to go to my local GP this morning as I woke up with very bad conjunctivitis in my right eye (that's the nurses exact words!), they took a swab and gave me a prescription for an antibiotic ointment. I've also been told I'm not allowed to go to work with conjunctivitis as I work in a baby food manufacturing company because of the type of infection it is. I am very thankful it is just one eye, as the ointment has made my vision very blurry and I think I would feel helpless if I had blurry vision in both my eyes. Anyway on to a more cheerful topic, some crochet!

A little while back I decided that I wanted to make our living room a little bit cosier, as I felt it was lacking the cosy feeling whenever you walked in. I asked people on Instagram for some ideas and I got some suggestions like more throws (working on that), more cushions, more colour, a rug (working on that), colourful wall art...and I agree with all of those!

So I started a new cushion cover, inspired by Attic24's Little Squares Cushion, as she is great when putting colours together! Although I think the colours I have put together are a little bit more vibrant than the ones that Lucy has put's great how you can see the difference in people's colour taste!

This is the back of my cushion cover, I completed this a little while ago and its just waiting on the front to be completed.

I have made much more progress on the front of my cushion cover than shown in this photo, and I think I am pretty close to a ta-dah moment with it. Maybe Friday, being very optomistic!

I already have a spot for it in my living room, on the chair you see to the right as you enter the room. It will be the first colourful thing you see as you enter our little flat!

To check out other WIPs, go on over to Tami's Amis blog!

I am going to go back to hiding now!

Take care,

Hazel x

  1. That looks *incredible*! I am working on making ours more cheery and homely too. I live with three very technology orientated boys and it looks like we work in a PC World sometimes...knitted cushions are certainly doing the trick!

Hope the eye gets better soon :)

    1. Thank you Corrie, I totally understand how you feel! One day I will have the living room of comfort and cosiness!

  2. Oh Love your cushion, all those tiny grannies :) can´t wait to see the finish product :)

  3. What a bright pop of colour that gorgeous cushion will give your room! I love it - perfect for the coming darker months of winter...hope you get better soon! Chrissie x

  6. That'll brighten things up. I love love love your stool cover.

  7. Oh it's lovely, I love bright colours like that together. Definitely going to feel cosier when it's finished :)

Hope your conjunctivitis goes away soon. I had a viral version when I was younger and managed to spread it to both eyes, not much fun!

  8. Oh you poor thing, I had conjunctivitis for the first time last year and it knocked me for six, really hope you feel better soon. Your cushion is lovely, I love the bright colours, it'll look fab in your room :) xx

  9. Your cushion is so pretty, you'll soon get your living room nice and cosy. I always think lots of candles make a room look cosy, too. Deb x

  10. What a great start! Can't wait to see the rest when you are done.

  11. Feel better soon. The antibiotics should get it under control quickly. I had that once (caught it from unclean tools at a spa YECH) and it spread to both eyes and into my cheeks - that was three types of antibiotics and a week off work.

Those colours will really punch up the the room!

  12. Sorry to hear about your eye, sounds really sore! I love your crochet foot stool - and the cushion is going to be lovely too!

  13. Having these pops of color in your living room is a terrific idea! That ottoman cover is splendid.
Sorry about the pink eye! Yikes. That's a messy biz. When I had it in college, I was prescribed that ointment. Now there's an eye drop that works faster.
