Pom Pom Rug

Earlier this month I decided I really wanted to make a pom pom rug, and I then found out that it is a very good stash busting project as it pretty much eating my yarn! So here are a few photos from my instagram feed showing you my progress. The ironic thing about stash busting for this rug, is that I am going to have to buy much more yarn for it!

All the materials I have required so far are my yarn stash, scissors, wire brush, and a piece of 1.37m x 2m jute canvas material for the rug base. It is quite refreshing having a craft project different from crochet as well, I can't wait to see how this rug will turn out over the next few weeks.

Granny Patch Baby Blanket

Last week I forgot to post my One A Day progress, so this week I am showing you two weeks progress....It still counts, right? A week ago I had a total of 20 squares completed, and 19 of them joined together.

This week I have 28 squares completed, with 23 of them joined together. Hopefully this means another three weeks and all the squares could be completed and joined together, awaiting to be fully bordered!

After I complete this, I will have no projects a part from my sideline granny square blanket! Yay!

Granny Star Baby Shawl

At the beginning of the week I finished my granny star baby shawl, and I love it! I started this shawl at the beginning of May after I seen a granny star pin on Pinterest, and I thought it would be stunning as a baby shawl. I gave it to my work colleague during the week after I blocked it, and she adores it. It is the greatest feeling when you give someone something you have made and you see how much they like your work.

I tried out the picot edging for the first time, and I think it really suits this shawl. From point to point it measures approximately 46 inches! And I lost count how many balls of yarn I used for this as it just seemed to eat them away!

Now that I have finished this shawl, I only have one main crochet on the go which is the baby blanket for my future nephew. I plan to blog about it on Tuesday for my One A Day as I didn't post this week about it, I now have two weeks progress to show off!

Oh! I also got to go to Edinburgh Zoo on Monday and it was fantastic! My sister wanted to take my nephew Zak to see all the different animals, and I think he was most fascinated with the meerkats as he sees them on TV a lot! They are very cute, and a lot smaller than I imagined them to be.

We also got tickets to see the pandas, and both Tian Tian (female) and Yang Guang (male) were both snoozing away when we got to the panda section. Although they are used to sleeping up to 16 hours a day, which is very similar to cats I think. On this occasion we were lucky as Tian Tian woke up and decided to have a leisurely stroll around her play area, she is beautiful!

Well that is all the news I have for for you today, and I hope you all have had a good weekend!

Take care!

Gifts From Gilly

Recently I won a giveaway from Gilly at gilly makes, which included a beautiful crochet hook holder handmade by Gilly herself and the lovely Hip Crochet book by Natalie Clegg. I was so excited to open my package to this lovely purple paper and Owl tag.
It was really cool to look through this book, anticipating all the patterns that it has and deciding which ones are my favourites!
I picked out a favourite instantaneously, here is a peek at the blanket pattern I like....are you surprised?! It is so pretty. I have taken more photos of other patterns in the book, if you would like...I could do a little review on the book? Just let me know.

The handmade crochet hook holder is beautiful! I love the colours on it, they are so me! Gilly knows me so well he he!
Gilly also attached this cute ribbon which is so pretty as a bow, I really can't believe this beauty is mine!
The inside is all cute and spotty, and the spaces are big enough to store a lot of crochet hooks.
My most favourite little touch to it all is the little tag that she has sewn on the inside to personalise it, 'made with love by Gilly'.
Thank you Gilly, this package definitely made my week!

Take care
