Getting Distracted

Hello everyone, I hope you are all well! I'm here writing this post because lately I have been distracted, and it is my crochet time that has suffered for it.....usually this bothers me but for once I am grateful. Though I  do have a moment of truth to tell you when it comes to my much loved hobby, don't worry it is nothing bad....I apologise for the rambling post.

When I started crocheting back in 2011, it was the most perfect solution to filling up my time since I had become a university graduate, I was in the search for a job and had no money. I feel pretty lucky that it is a hobby that has stuck with me and progressed right through to today....in 2014! I feel even luckier that I have gained all my blog friends and readers too. The truth about crochet is that it is has been my happy distraction through feeling lonely and fed up at times....fills up the little void inside of me, it is what has kept me going through the years. I guess you could say it is almost therapeutic? See I told you I was going to ramble, but I suppose I am in a reflective mood this morning.

However something has changed in this past week, and it has been the best distraction from crochet that I have had since I ever started it. One of my closest friends was generous enough to build a computer for me from spare bits he had in his house, he is like a computer wizard!! You think why would I need a computer when I have a perfectly functioning old laptop? WELL....for the actual moment of truth, he gave me it as a gaming computer. It is so great to have my old hobby back and to be connected back to my friends, and especially my fiancé. You wouldn't think that something like this could have such an impact on your social life, but when yourself and all your friends are gamers. It really does. I feel so connected now, I feel happy. Do you guys understand where I am coming from?

You can see why I am distracted, as I have barely lifted my hook this week since I have been glued to computer games! It means that my crochet will have to be prioritised, since I don't have all of my non-working time to play around with my hook and yarn. Not to worry, its not going to make me any less of a hooker that I am!

This month I have been messing around with my very small stash of Drops Paris yarn, I have been making cup coasters for my living room and above I have a rather psychedelic grandala. I am hoping to make more of these as I want them to be my new dinner placemats, totally in love with it!

This chevron throw is my biggest priority right now as it is for one of my sisters, and I have been crocheting it since the end of December. This week I have been balancing crocheting this blanket and gaming with my friends, so it is still progressing!!!

Well, that is me all rambled out for now. I feel a little better for it.

Hope you all have been having a good weekend!

Take care,

Hazel x

(P.S. I totally love my computer wizard friend to bits right now)

Crochet Mood Blanket 2014 - Week 7

Hello, it has been a very busy long day! I didn't finish work until 7 pm tonight! My mood blanket photograph doesn't do justice as it is quite dark. For those who haven't read about the crochet mood blanket, the details are on my first post right here

Week 7 square is an orange one as I had a rather exciting photo shoot with a friend. I forgot how much fun it is to get out and about with a camera, as I don't give myself much time to go out and take photographs. As I always do, is list my colours and what they mean as a reminder every week!

Colour Moods
Purple - Happiness
Blue - Calm
Green - Unwell
Yellow- Excited
Orange - Creative
Pink - Loved
Red - Extremely Emotional (Anger/PMS)
Grey - Meh

Crochet Mood Blanket - Week 6

Hello! It's Tuesday again, which means I get to show you the progress on my mood blanket again. For those who haven't read about the crochet mood blanket, the details are on my first post right here

Although this week shows you an additional two squares in addition to my weekly mood square, as I decided to crochet granny heart squares to represent a birthday in my family. I have already worked out a layout of where all the birthday squares will go in my blanket, which means my blanket will be 8 x 8 instead of the 7 x 7 like I originally planned.

I didn't want to choose a singular colour for the birthday squares, so I am using my mood on that particular birthday, which means my sister's birthday got a blue heart and my Nana's birthday got a yellow heart. My actual mood square for week 6 is a grey one, this is due to me feeling all bleh as I am currently on night shift at work. I have a funny feeling you will see the red or grey squares whenever I am on nights as that is usually whenever I tend to feel low. As I always do, is list my colours and what they mean as a reminder every week!

Colour Moods
Purple - Happiness
Blue - Calm
Green - Unwell
Yellow- Excited
Orange - Creative
Pink - Loved
Red - Extremely Emotional (Anger/PMS)
Grey - Meh

While I was taking a photograph of my squares, my little sweetie decided to come and say hello. I think she was getting all envious of not getting enough attention he he!

Diamond Striped Blanket

I have so many blankets on the go right now, although only two are my main focus. I have been crocheting a couch throw for my sister using the chevron pattern. However today I am showing you my favourite project right now, my diamond striped blanket. The pattern is so easy, its almost like doing a granny stripe blanket with the exception of the shells being a cluster of two stitches instead of three. I found the tutorial on pinterest, and knew I had to make my own!

It is great for using up your stash of different colours, although because I have a lot of cream in this blanket....I have used about two skeins already! The blanket is so pretty that I don't mind buying more cream for it every now and then. What I am showing you now has taken me a whole month to do, and I imagine it will take me until the end of 2014 before I have it completed.

It is such a relaxing project, totally worth it.

I am linking up with Chrissie today, where you get to show off what crochet project you are into right now. Well that's me for now.

Take care,

Hazel
